CoME is a research project financed by the European Commission within the framework of the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) program.
Its goal is to empower and offer solutions before potential risks of cognitive deterioration in the collective of elderly people. It is mainly aimed at those who want to keep living autonomously in their environment.
The project aims to tackle challenges such as the health-related self-care, the support to informal caretakers and a better coordination among professionals, in order to offer a quality health care oriented at the improvement and management of the professional lives of the participants.
Through the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), the participants are accompanied via a website platform – also known as CoME – that has different functionalities, from the monitoring of health and daily activities of the user to the early detection of risky problems, abnormalities and behaviors, and memory-training activities. In addition, it includes information that may be useful both for users and caretakers of elderly people.
The Grup de Recerca de Cures de la Salut (GRECS) of the Institut de Recerca Biomèdica de Lleida Fundació Dr. Pifarré (IRBLleida) acknowledges the usefulness of this project, and this is why it takes part in the project CoME (Caregivers and Me) in collaboration with other European groups.
